Attendance Clerk
The person responsible for tracking attendance at Alpine Valley School is called the Attendance Clerk. Information on how to contact the Attendance Clerk is available on the AVS Families Webpage (contact us for details)
Part-Time
Students under the age of seven attend part-time, starting at two days per week. Part-time attendance is not available for students older than seven.
School Hours
Alpine Valley School is open from 8:30 AM to 4:20 PM each weekday during the school year, excepting holidays and breaks.
Student Hours
Students must arrive by 10:00 AM, leave no earlier than 2:00 PM, and attend for at least 5 hours in order to have a complete day.
Communication
Please call, text, or e-mail the Attendance Clerk ASAP to let them know if a student will be coming in late (after 10:00 AM) or will be taking a personal day.
Signing In / Out
Students use an electronic attendance system to sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave for the day.
Closing Time
Alpine Valley School closes promptly at 4:20 PM each day. All students must be picked up by an adult guardian before that time.
After-Hours Events
School-hosted parties happen several times a year and take place outside regular school hours. As these events are not part of the school day, all attendees under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult guardian for the duration of the event.
Staff Members engage in these events as participants and do not act in a supervisory role.
Personal Days
Each student has a set number of personal days, which can be used for things like family trips. The number of personal days each student has each year depends on their date of enrollment.
Illness
Students are expected to stay home if they are sick or symptomatic and may return to school once they are feeling better.
Irregular Attendance
If a student uses up all their personal days before the end of the school year, the family will receive a letter from the Attendance Clerk to this effect. This step is to open the lines of communication and to ensure that the student continues to find satisfaction being at our school.
Severe Weather
In the event of an emergency closure for any reason, families will receive a text message from the school as early as possible, followed by an e-mail with additional details. Unless you hear otherwise, assume that school will be OPEN.
Community
Alpine Valley School is an intentional community and our school thrives when everyone attends each day!
